Island Kava – Fijian
Island Kava is available in three different strains: Fijian, Hawaiian, and Tongan. Each type comes in 20-gram or 35-gram bottles. We only use kava that contains only the lateral root of plants that are 7 years or older. The high-quality kavalactone profiles of our kava products outperform many other kava extracts. For purity and safety, Island Kava doesn’t use the aerial part of the root in any way.
What makes kava so fantastic, you might ask? The answer is simple: It’s all about the kavalactones! These are the active ingredients that give kava its power and sought-after effects. There are 18 different kavalactones found in kava. In all, they make up between 3% and 20% of the dry weight of the roots. The strength of kavalactones is affected by the type of soil, amount of water, and how much sunlight the kava plant receives.
WHAT IS KAVA?
Kava goes by many names like kava kava, ava, yaqona, Seka, and awa, just to name a few. Whichever name you prefer to call it, kava comes from a tropical evergreen plant, Piper methysticum, native to the western Pacific islands. Natives have used this versatile plant for centuries for celebrations, welcoming visitors, and relaxing and socializing after a long day.
As “kava” means bitter, that’s how many people describe its earthy taste. While many natives have grown accustomed to its flavor, newcomers can often find it a bit off-putting. Since kava has gained popularity in the United States, many enjoy its benefits in a convenient capsule form, so you get all the goodness of kava without the bitter taste. With Island Kava, you never have to worry about any bitterness!
